This month we are doing what farmers have always done at this point in the season. Stop. Look at the field. Take honest inventory.
You have been growing something all year, beautiful soul, whether or not you have had the time to notice it. New habits. Harder conversations. Relationships that deepened. Relationships that ran their course. Lessons you did not ask for and learned anyway. All of that is harvest.
The work of September is not to plant more. It is to gather what is already ripe, to name what has reached its natural completion without calling that failure, and to let the quiet that follows prepare you for what comes next.
Nothing in nature apologizes for the end of a season. Neither should you.
The Energy of September 2026: Virgo, the Equinox, and the Harvest Moon
Three moments shape this month. Here is what each one is asking of you.
Virgo Season and the New Moon on September 10th
We move through Virgo season until September 22nd. Virgo is earth, ruled by Mercury, and its nature is discernment, order, and the sacred practice of tending. Virgo has always been the sign of the harvest, and that is not an accident. Its real question is not how do I do more. It is what here is actually worth keeping.
The New Moon in Virgo arrives late on September 10th, at 11:27 PM Eastern. New moons are for planting, and Virgo wants your intention specific. Not "be healthier." One thing, small enough to actually do, clear enough that you will know when you have done it. Virgo intentions fall apart when they stay vague and they hold when they get precise.
The Autumn Equinox on September 22nd
The Autumn Equinox arrives September 22nd at 8:06 PM Eastern. Day and night in equal measure, and the doorway into Libra season. The question shifts from what is worth keeping to what is worth balancing. Where in your life is one side carrying more than its share.
The Harvest Moon on September 26th
On September 26th at 12:49 PM Eastern, the Harvest Moon arrives full in Aries. It carries that name because it is the full moon closest to the equinox, the one that once gave farmers extra evening light to bring the crop in before the frost came.
Full moons are for release. Aries makes the release direct, and sometimes blunter than we planned. If something has been waiting for you to finally say it, this is the light it gets said under.

Lapis Lazuli: September's Stone of Truth and Inner Vision
September's traditional birthstone is Sapphire, the old stone of wisdom and clear judgment. But the stone we are putting in your hand this month is Lapis Lazuli, and it has been carrying that same medicine for far longer.
Deep midnight blue, shot through with veins of gold. Ancient Egypt ground it into pigment for sacred work and laid it with their royalty. Across thousands of years and many peoples, it has been the stone of truth telling, wisdom, and inner sight. When you hold it, you are holding something our ancestors already knew the value of.
Lapis works on the throat and the third eye, the seeing and the saying. Clear vision first, then honest speech. That pairing is exactly what a harvest requires. You cannot gather what you refuse to look at, and you cannot release what you will not name out loud. Lapis steadies you enough to do both without flinching.
And look at the stone itself. Gold running through the dark, the way the Harvest Moon runs through this month. It could not be more suited to September.
Keep a piece close. On your desk while you take inventory. In your pocket for the conversation you have been putting off. On your altar under the full moon on the 26th.

Hold your lapis in your left hand. Name one thing this year grew in you that you are proud of. Then name one thing that has finished. Say both out loud, even if your voice shakes. That is the whole ritual. Clear seeing, honest speech, nothing left rotting in the field.
What We Gathered This Season
Since we are asking you to take inventory this month, it is only right that we do the same. Here is some of what this season held.
Sound Bowl Meditation for Young Adults
We brought the bowls to a group of young adults, and we wish you could have seen what happened in that room. Young people are not usually given permission to be still. Give them a resonance they can feel in their chest and a few minutes where nothing is being asked of them, and they take it. Some of them said afterward that it was the quietest their minds had been all week. That is the whole work, right there.
The Aromatherapy Intention Bar
We also set up the Aromatherapy Intention Bar at a summer festival, open to everyone who walked up. Teenagers, elders, whole families. Each person chose an intention and then built their own blend around it. Watching someone decide what they want to call in, and then make something with their own hands to hold it, is a kind of teaching that needs no lecture. They left with a blend, and with proof that they can tend to themselves.

Essence of ASÉ is officially an approved vendor with New York City Public Schools, formerly known as the New York City Department of Education.
What that means in plain terms is that the youth wellness programming we have been building for years now has a clear path into public schools. The guided meditation. The breathwork. The sound bowls. The intention work. The tools for emotional regulation that we have watched change how young people relate to their own minds and bodies.
There is no group we are more excited to reach. Young people are still forming their relationship with themselves, and most of them are never told that stillness is theirs to claim. Getting into those buildings is how that changes.
Our schools program includes Harmony Haven, a mindfulness and social emotional learning program already running in two NYC schools, aromatherapy lessons in high school classrooms, wellness workshops for faculty, and vision board sessions with families at the Brooklyn Children's Museum.
