I Didn’t Understand Reiki at First, But It Kept Calling Me
As a young adult, I was endlessly captivated by the idea of Reiki.
It felt mysterious, but also grounding. I couldn’t fully explain it yet, but it kept finding me in dreams and quiet moments. Like a whisper.
My First Reiki Experience (When I Wasn’t Okay)
The first time I experienced Reiki hands-on, I was in a dark place.
I had just discovered that I had lupus, and I was struggling with frequent flare-ups.
My body ached. I felt lost. I was overwhelmed, and I was crying hard.
That season forced me to slow down and actually listen to my body.
I started looking for ways to calm my nervous system and feel like myself again.
A close friend of mine, who was a Reiki practitioner, came to see me during that time. She asked me to lie down.
As her hands hovered above me, I felt a wave of calm move through my body.
I slipped into the deepest, most restorative sleep.
And when I woke up, something had shifted.
I felt lighter. More centered. Like I was waking up to myself again.
The Moment I Knew
From that moment, I knew I had to understand this practice more deeply.
So I committed.
I studied with different teachers. I immersed myself in the methods. I practiced every day.
Over time, I began to understand how energy flows, how the body responds, and how subtle practices like Reiki can help us return to balance.
What Reiki Gave Me (And Why I Still Practice)
Then life brought one of its hardest challenges.
I suffered my first stroke.
When I was ill, Reiki and meditation became a lifeline for me.
They helped realign me when everything felt off.
Reiki didn’t erase what I was going through. It supported me through it.
It helped me:
-
-
Slow down and listen to my body
-
Settle my nervous system when I felt overwhelmed
-
Sleep more deeply and restore
-
Feel lighter and more centered
-
Come back to myself when I felt scattered or spiritually off
-
And that’s what I want for other people too.
Because so many of us are carrying so much. Stress. Grief. Anxiety. Other people’s energy. The pressure to keep going.
Reiki is one of the ways we can return to center.
How My Path Expanded
-
- I became a Reiki Master, and my path continued to expand.
- I earned my Crystal Energy Guide certification.
- I completed training in Pranic Healing.
I’m always learning, not because I’m chasing titles, but because spiritual work deserves integrity, study, and responsibility.
Why I Teach Reiki
That’s why I teach.
Because Reiki is not just something I learned.
It’s something that held me with care when I needed it most.
And now I get to pass it on.
